This page contains information about the 86th Annual Meeting of Maritime Conference of The United Church of Canada, which was held in Sackville, New Brunswick on May 26 - 29, 2011.

The Annual Meeting was held at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre, 182 Main Street in Sackville, and was presided over by President Ruth Gamble.

The theme song for the 86th Annual Meeting was From Now On, by Emma Lee Stewart. Sheet music for this song is now available as a PDF file. Click here for the sheet music.

At the 86th Annual Meeting, a 700 square foot quilt was assembled from approximately 175 quilt squares. The squares, representing their past, present, and future, were made by the Pastoral Charges of the Conference. Nick Phillips has created a video of the quilt, which is available on YouTube. A Pre-Conference letter from the Annual Meeting Planning Committee has been mailed to all delegates to the Annual Meeting. This letter contains all the “need to know” information required to be prepared to fully participate in the Annual Meeting.

Mardi Tindal, Moderator

Town Hall Meeting

Mardi Tindal, the Moderator of the United Church of Canada, held a Town Hall Meeting in Sackville United Church ( 112 Main St., Sackville) on Thursday, May 26, at 3:00 p.m.

“I will share my own stories and symbols,” says Tindal, “and I invite you to do the same. Bring your stories and symbols—such as an object, a poem, or an image—to represent environmental distress and hope in your community or your personal life.”

THE MESSAGE

THE MESSAGE plays CONFERENCE
at Tantramar Civic Centre
Sackville, NB

Thursday May 26th The Message, a contemporary Christian Band from the Maritimes, shared an evening of contemporary Christian music. The concert began at approximately 9:00 pm as the closing to the day for the Maritime Conference Annual Meeting.

THE MESSAGE is a versatile, powerful group of entertainers and prolific songwriters dedicated to music ministry and Christian music education. Along with a highly charged, spirit filled stage show, THE MESSAGE brings an intensity to worship, to sharing music, and to following the Spirit.

THE MESSAGE has two CDs (“Miracles” and “In Constant Awe”) and have released songbooks to accompany the two CDs.

The theme for the 2011 Annual Meeting of Maritime Conference will relate to this resource, a Study Paper on Revitalizing Rural Ministries.
