ANCIENT-FUTURE WORSHIP
Robert Webber, author and president of the institute for worship studies, narrates six programs using a model of actual worship to help in the planning and leading of worship. The Sunday worship event is shaped into a visual, intergenerational experience which immerses participants in bold pageantry, communal gestures and rich symbolism.
Tape 1:
1. Understanding Worship (18 min.)
2. The Ministry of Hospitality (10 min.)
3. Gathering in God’s Presence (13 min.)
Tape 2:
4. Listening to God through the Word (21 mins)
5. Offering Praise and Thanksgiving at the Table (25 mins)
6 Going Forth to Love and Serve the Lord (20mins.)
ARTS IN WORSHIP SERIES
Four parts:
• Drama;
• Fabric Arts;
• Form & Space;
• Liturgical Dance
This is a series about using arts in worship and about exploring our faith and spirituality through these different media and experiences. The church traditionally has incorporated drama into worship in the form of pageants, but this programme examines alternative forms of drama also being used in the church.
BROKEN FOR YOU
This is intended to help viewers make the connection between the 'service at the table' in the communion service and 'service in the world'. What has communion to do with your relationship to your neighbours at home and around the world?
THE CHRISTIAN YEAR
A video which highlights the origins, themes, and personal significance of each of the seasons of the Christian year. In the video there are six 10 minute segments which can be used individually to introduce these seasons.
EMBRACING TRANSFORMATION
This video is intended to broaden awareness of community activities and cultural diversity in many congregations and to demonstrate that congregational mission is unique to each community. It shows six different congregations that are seeking to follow God in mission in the changing circumstances of their communities. The congregations are
• Foothills United in Calgary
• Marion Harper Memorial Circle in Winnipeg
• Comunaute Chretienne de Bethel in Montreal
• Westminster United in Mississauga, ON
• Three Rivers Pastoral Charge in the Annapolis Valley
• Ryerson United in Vancouver.
HOW SHALL I SING
This videotape is divided into 3 sections of approximately 17 minutes each. The program is a video workshop featuring Dr. Brian Wren, internationally acclaimed hymn writer. The program is not only instructive, but encourages discussion within groups concerned about how to effectively and creatively express their faith in worship, through language.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SERIES
Three interactive videos to assist congregations to look at their styles of planning and leadership.
• Worship and Planning
• Outreach and Stewardship
• Christian Education
PLACES OF WORSHIP
This set of slides with guide first provides the viewer with an overview of the history of architecture of Christian places of worship from the earliest days of Christianity through to this century. It then describes what takes place during worship and how the design of a worship space can enable participation in those acts.
QUESTIONS OF FAITH II: WHY WORSHIP
This popular series addresses, as the title suggests, the questions of faith with which many people struggle at some point in their faith journey. The people interviewed in the videos are well-known in both the secular and church worlds as writers and thinkers.
TRANSFORMING WORSHIP New Windows to God (Rennovations 2000)
Worship, and the music that so enriches it, has never been a static thing. It has changed, been adapted, and rediscovered so that each generation might experience the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is not change for change's sake, but rather an honest attempt to find God within the framework of our present culture speaking to the people of this generation in language, music, and image that honor their experience. Transforming Worship will guide your congregation's worship committee as it begins this exciting, but often daunting task of looking anew at how we praise God.
TO SUCH BELONGS THE KINGDOM
This video shows the congregation of Crescent United Church, Surrey, BC at their weekly intergenerational worship. Interviews seen in the video raise the joys and challenges of working for the inclusion of children in the total life of the church.
WILL OUR CHILDREN HAVE FAITH
This videotape is divided into different segments (all on one tape) designed to provoke discussion among parents and teachers interested in the teaching and learning process of religious education programmes. Each segment is 30 minutes long.
• Baptism: Remembering Who We Are
