Halifax Presbytery is just slightly larger than the new Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) which encompasses the cities of Dartmouth and Halifax and spills beyond the bounds of Halifax County to the north, east and west. This means that about one third of the population of the province is within the Presbytery.

Bishop Black's influence was also felt here. It's one of the areas of Conference where church growth continues to be felt, and in recent years there have been several new church developments.

All who serve on multiple point charges should look closely at the Preachers' Plan for Halifax and Dartmouth, 1871 - and this in the days before there were Harbour bridges or cars, but when there were many row boats and strong arms to pull the oars.

Halifax Presbytery covers Nova Scotia's Atlantic Coastline from east of Sheet Harbour to St. Margaret's Bay, all the Halifax Metro area and parts of Halifax County.
